What happened after my Liposuction treatment?
I developed hard fatty pockets (felt like lumps) on both sides of my thighs. Turns out they’re quite common in people who don’t metabolise the fat completely through their lymphatic drainage system post-procedure.
The fatty pockets (lumpy and bumpy as I nicknamed them), measured 6cm in diameter three months after my procedure – they were by no means badly visible on the skin, but you could feel them significantly.
After months of serious exercise in the gym, great nutrition and foam-rolling 4 X a week, the pockets reduced to about 3cm. Not bad, but still, they’re not supposed to be there.
The advice I received from my Doctor was that they’ll go away in time; however, non-invasive machines could help me along.
What machine did I try?
What is Velashape III?
Velashape III (made very popular by Kim Kardashian who is said to have gone for Velashape Smooth treatments to reduce her cellulite), is a superb option if you’re looking for non-invasive body contouring as well as fatty tissue and cellulite reduction. CE and FDA medical approval for Body contouring and Cellulite reduction.
What area did I treat?
Sides of both upper thighs, underneath buttocks and back of thighs for cellulite.
How many treatments are needed?
Three to four treatments spaced two weeks apart. I had brilliant results from only three treatments – with lumpy and bumpy being reduced to just half a centimetre each.
How did it feel?
Look, it was a great experience because you don’t need sedatives and there’s no blood or needles.
However, the heat when having the Velashape III treatment can be intense and I “jumped” a little more than I expected. With that said, it is bearable and you can tell your therapist conducting the treatment, if it gets too much, in order to move to another area or reduce the intensity level slightly.
How does it work?
Velashape III has two applicators, a V-smooth applicator for cellulite and a V-contour applicator with three disposable heads, small to large for body contouring and fatty deposit reduction. It works with four technologies namely, Vacuum suction, Mechanical rollers, Infra-red and Radio frequency. The Infra-red and Radio frequency heats up the fat cells to a temperature of 42 C until “lipolysis” (destroying of fat cells) take place. The Vacuum suction and mechanical rollers then assist in the drainage of the toxins through the lymph system.
Any side effects?
Nope, normally none. No downtime.
When can I expect results?
Results can be seen quite quickly. Within my first week I could feel a difference in my jeans around my buttock area and a few days after my second and third treatment, my skin was smoother and lumpy and bumpy were barely noticeable.
Who are the best candidates for Velashape?
- Pre and post liposuction.
- “Tummy tuck” and other Body treatment interventions.
- General body contouring, skin tightening, toning and cellulite improvement (centimetre loss).
How long do the results last?
You may want to top up two to three times a year, but if you maintain a healthy lifestyle through regular gym and great nutrition, then your results will be even better and last longer.
At A2 Magazine we always say “these treatments are NOT a replacement, they’re an addition to help you along your existing healthy aesthetic lifestyle.”
Where can I go for Velashape?
I was very lucky to be able to review the device at Radiant Healthcare headquarters (they are the South African distributors of the machine).
