Issue 33 – March 2020 (Autumn)
As always, we bring out four print editions a year, one at the beginning of each season…
- March (autumn)
- June (winter)
- September (spring)
- December (summer)
At A2 Magazine, we believe aesthetics and anti-ageing are more than just a few injectable treatments. It’s the whole package – a healthy outlook on life (a smile makes you seem younger and more attractive), what you put out is what you receive back in return, healthy skin (this forms the basis of everything), a healthy body, healthy hair and so on. All the external treatments and procedures should add to and compliment these.
Which is why our print magazine and blog both comprehensively cover the following sections within the industry:
- The Aesthetic Report (aesthetic treatments and procedures, injectables, treatments)
- Anti-Ageing & Integrative Medicine (a holistic approach to your overall health and wellness through nutrition, exercise, hormone balance etc)
- Skin Sense (focusing on your skin, skin concerns, treatments, procedures and products to use)
- Dental Techniques (interesting info and options in cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry)
- And lastly, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery (touching on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery options whether they are for cosmetic or medical reasons)
We cover varying topics within each of the above sections in every print magazine, plus regularly update our blog, www.a2magazine.co.za, with information in-between magazines. So be sure to never miss an edition and check in regularly with us on the blog and social media.
Happy reading with us in this beautiful new season!

Nose Under the Knife
The 10 essentials to keep in mind when considering a rhinoplasty procedure (nose job). By Dr Cameron McIntosh
Plasma vs ‘Plasma’
The dangerous difference between authentic and counterfeit devices. Because plasma is classified as a medical device, it is imperative that it’s only used in a medical setting, and by a registered doctor. Even more important, however, is that the plasma being used is a bona fide device, as cheap counterfeits can result in major side effects and subsequent damage. AAMSSA President, Dr Debbie Norval, reports.

Clean Beauty for Healthy Skin – Myth or reality?
Take a walk down any beauty aisle, and you’ll most certainly find yourself lost in the vast array of skincare creams on display, all packaged with labels containing words such as ‘non-toxic, ‘free from’ or ‘no nasties’. It appears our quest for a healthy lifestyle has now resulted in the idea of natural skincare – or so-called ‘clean beauty’. By Dr Tarryn Jacobs

Be sure to always ask for clinical data when shopping for skincare products and devices – especially if the claims sound too good to be true, advises Sonette Donker.
Cosmetic Surgery Update
Breast Reduction Uncovered
Are medical schemes skirting the issue of covering breast reduction surgery? Medical aid schemes are paid princely sums every month by their members, and yet there are certain surgical procedures for which one cannot claim – a prime example being breast reduction surgery. Paola Chellew, with invaluable help from plastic surgeon Dr Isabel Do Vale, delves into the reasons why women find themselves with no support regarding this particular operation.
Cosmetic Medical Tourism
Surgery Without Borders… having a cosmetic procedure abroad may save you quite a nice chunk of change. And when you couple this with a tropical vacation post-op, it’s no wonder that cosmetic surgery tourism is an attractive option. But wait, before you hop on to the next flight, there are some serious factors to consider, as this type of venture carries a great amount of risk. By Dr Vernon Ching
