While treatments are not available during lockdown, many doctors, clinics and skin therapists are contactable now to book your post-lockdown appointments
We all know the wonderful treatment that is Mesotherapy, where homeopathic, conventional pharmaceuticals, plant extracts, micro-nutrients, vitamins, minerals as well as non-cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is injected into the skin.
For the needle phobic (mostly men) and doctors (like myself) there is now an alternative.
This is relatively new technology and first used by scientist from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, applied to genetic tissues and used to administer oncology medication, in the 1960’s and 70’s. The Technology has evolved over the years and is now being used widely in dermatological and aesthetic treatments plans.
It is a simple, yet effective way of doing ‘mesotherapy’, with no needles and a pain-free delivery system that gives similar outcomes.
This technology is available through ESSEL South Africa and is called MesoSkin™, which works with Electroporation and Microchip (EPM) technology creating temporary lipid bilateral aqueous channels to boost the permeability of the cell membranes and enable active ingredients to penetrate into the skin and skin cells.
Is there downtime?
‘Virtual Mesotherapy’ is classified by the FDA as an alternative to injections, an easy procedure, painless and with no downtime.
The treatment can stimulate cellular activity, micro-circulation, accelerate cell metabolism and resist cell aging, improves lymphatic drainage and elastin production. It improves the absorption rates of nutrients into the mesoderm by 84%, with effective and fast results.
How does it work?
EPM (Electroporation Microchip) technology combines Electroporation and Microchip Transdermal technology.
- Microchip Transdermal Technology – using needle free mesotherapy treatment, the MesoSkin employs microchips transdermal technology to introduce nutrients to the mesoderm of the skin. Penetration depth: epidermal basal layer 0.1-0.15mm.
- Electroporation – applied on the skin directly to create temporary, reversible lipid bilateral aqueous channels (will stay open for approx 20 min) to increase permeability of the cell membrane allowing hydrophilic molecules, that does not usually penetrate to be absorbed and introduced into the skin. Penetration depth: dermis layer 0.8-1.1mm.
The pulse opens thin channels in the epidermis through inter-cellular space and temporarily alters the plasma membranes allowing molecules that are normally only outside the cells to move to the inside and vice versa. Since relatively large molecules can pass through the membrane, electroporation techniques have successfully been used for gene therapy and other transdermal drug therapies.
Non-invasive non cross-linked HA procedure with visible wrinkle reduction and plumping effects (ESSEL supplies a reticulated HA Meso-filler).
How many treatments?
4 – 6 treatments 2 weeks apart are recommended for the best results, with maintenance every 3 to 6 months.
After painful procedures like hair rejuvenation with PRP injections and Micro-needling, I have experienced the painless treatment, with a combination of PRP and ESSEL’s Recovery serum, as well as facial rejuvenation with visible results. So, if the needles of conventional Mesotherapy sound too scary, this is the alternative of choice.
Contact ESSEL to find out where these pain-free treatments are readily available.
What can be treated with Mesotherapy?
- Skin pigmentation
- Wrinkles, skin dryness, sagging
- Black circles under eyes and puffy eyes
- Hair Rejuvenation
